What dates are available?

The centre is open every week day from new year until Christmas eve. Contact the centre by telephone to check available dates for your size of group and chosen programme.

How do I book?

First decide on the programmes you wish to do. Telephone the centre to find an available date and make a provisional booking. When you are ready to confirm your booking, return the booking form by post or fax to 01772 751116. Booking forms are available online or in your brochure.

What is the maximum number of children I can bring to the centre?

Your maximum number depends on the programme you choose to do. For safety reasons we do not recommend more than 30 children for Pond dipping or Vikings. The centre can hold around 100 children each day and activities can be adapted to fit in your groups.

What to we bring with us?

Bring a packed lunch, check out our Eco Lunch information with regards to your packaging. We will also provide classroom for you to eat.  We also strongly recommend that you bring waterproof clothing and wellingtons or sun hats and sunscreen if adverse weather is expected.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains we will continue the programme as planned, wearing waterproof clothing. If adverse weather makes the activity potentially dangerous, the programme may be stopped and an alternative provided.

Where can I get risk assessments for the activities?

All programes provided by the education team are risk assessed, copies of which are available from the centre. We also recommend that you visit the centre prior to coming with your group as you will be able to familiarize yourself with the facilities and carry out any further required assessments. You can contact the centre to arrange a pre booking visit, where we will ensure there is a member of staff available to show you around.

How do I seek LEA approval for my visit?

The centre has been assessed by Lancashire Education Authority for safety and is an approved site for school visits. All core staff are qualified in Offsite Safety Management and can advise you with regards to safety on your trip. All activities provided are type A  except for pond dipping.

What ratios do I have to provide for my group?

We recommend a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children. Please be aware that when spitting the group you do not have parent helper supervising a group including their own child.

Should the kids bring money?

We have a small gift shop, which can be made available to your group. The majority of the stock retails at under a pound. Goody bags can be made up to a set cost, prior to your visit if preferred.

I have a child with special needs in my group, will they be included in the activities?

All of our activities are all inclusive. The centre and grounds have full wheelchair access. There may be restricted access through the woodland, however if you have any concerns please give the staff a call and we will endeavor to accommodate your needs.

Are your programmes linked to the curriculum?

Yes, all of our programmes are curriculum linked, however if there are particular aspects of the curriculum you wish to cover on your visit, contact the centre prior to your trip and we will be flexible to adapt or amend our programmes to suit your needs.

How much will it cost and how do I pay?

We charge £3 per child per session. If you require a full days activities it will cost £6 per child. We have alternative programmes such as orienteering and Rambling if you require and activity free of charge. We do not charge an adult admission.  Your school will be invoiced after your trip and you will be charged for the number of children attending so there is no need to worry about payment on the day.
