Volunteer
Would you like the opportunity to
really make a difference for the Environmental Education Centre? Please
offer your help as a volunteer.
The Environmental Education Centre, like all the Wildlife
Trusts could not run effectively without the help of volunteers. There are
a number of different volunteer posts available at the Environmental
Education Centre, giving you the opportunity to gain new skills or put into
practice skills you already have. These include:
If the Environmental Education Centre is a long distance away from where you
live you may prefer to volunteer at one of the other centres or nature
reserves run by the Wildlife Trust in Lancashire, Manchester and North
Merseyside.

Education Volunteers
Key Tasks:
a) Working with the Education Officers
as assistants with school groups at centres or
in schools on term-time weekdays (mainly
primary but with some secondary
schools).
b) Working with the Education Officers
as assistants with 8-11 year old young people
on Wildlife Watch Club or Family Events
during school holidays, evenings and
weekends.
c) Working with the Centre Manager and
Event Leaders to help organise and run adult
training and
Events.
Responsibility: To Centre
Manager.
Commitment: As required by the
Centre Manager

Administration Volunteers
Key Tasks:
a) To assist with typing letters,
newsletters, leaflets etc.
b) To answer the telephones and route calls to the appropriate
person.
c) To ‘stuff’, stamp and address envelopes as requested by a staff
member.
d) To do long-run photocopying and collating.
Responsibility: To the staff
member requiring help.
Commitment: Minimum or one day per fortnight, preferably one
day a week.

Handymen/Women Volunteers
Key Tasks:
a) Painting and decorating the centres
inside and out.
b) Maintenance work in centre and
grounds.
c) Electrical work (must be
qualified).
d) Plumbing work (must be
qualified).
Responsibility: To the Centre
Manager
Commitment: When required by
the Centre Manager, usually one or two days a month.

Wildlife WATCH Leaders and Assistant Volunteers
Key Tasks:
a) To help organise and assist with
the running of events for young members of the
local Wildlife Watch group which will
stimulate their interest in wildlife.
b) Design and preparation of materials
to be used in Wildlife watch Activities.
Responsibility: To the
Lancashire WATCH leader and coordinating group.
Commitment: It is necessary to
prepare and run a half day event for children
everymonth and to join with other groups occasionally.
